TexTESOL III is celebrating 31 years of being an ESL non-profit organization and an official affiliate of TESOL! Our relationship with TESOL is dependent on the strength of our membership, which has risen sharply in the past year, primarily due to a successful co-membership pilot program between TexTESOL III and TESOL. However, our role as the Central Texas TexTESOL regional affiliate goes far beyond recruiting members — the volunteers at TexTESOL III, and TESOL on a global level, are here to provide professional support to teachers, students, and administrators, to provide diverse opportunities for professional development, to facilitate the dissemination of information regarding our field, and to provide leadership training for those wish to serve. As an affiliate of TESOL, TexTESOL III is called upon annually to represent our region at the convention, where we meet and talk with other affiliates from all over the world at the Affiliate Leadership Workshop as well as the Affiliate Assembly; we are called upon to vote in TESOL elections and deliberate on issues that affect the whole profession, particularly advocacy. We also meet twice a year with fellow TexTESOL Affiliate leaders (www.textesol.org) to discuss state-wide issues as well as the future of our respective affiliates. TexTESOL III will continue to work hard for its members and the ESL community here in Central Texas, and we are thankful for those who help support us in our mission.
